DAD'S COMMENT:  Callie came to us in 1997  from Arizona Pet Rescue.  She was in sad shape then, thru no fault of Pet Rescue.  She had been picked up wild by the Humane Society and Pet Rescue saved her on the day of her scheduled Euthanasia.

She is part Maine Coon (a big part, actually), she was neutered at Pet Rescue and had not been bred before neutering.

Callie was born and grew up in the streets, and its still hard to believe, to this day, how beautiful and loving she has become!
"Hello, I'm Callie.  My Mom and Dad got me from a pet adoption place in Arizona when they lived there, and I'm glad they did.  I get to do whatever I want in our house in Indiana, and I never had the chance to do anything at that rescue place.  My Dad says if people want a nice pet, and don't have the money to buy a Maine Coon Kitten, they should visit their local Pet Rescue and they can find a nice pet there.

Even a dog, if they want one, although why anyone would is beyond me.  I think Dad's right, because I sure am happy him and Mom found me at one of those places, and there are lots of nice dogs and cats there that would love a good home with nice people."
"I like to lay around and watch all the other cats and kittens, and once in a while, if they aren't paying attention and walk too close to where I am, I take off and chase them!  I don't hurt them or anything, I just like to run!  Sometimes, Casi or Rocky chase me and we just fly thru the house, having a cat-race!"
"I don't sleep a whole lot, but when I do I can sleep almost anywhere.  One of my favorite places is on the footrest of our couch.  Mom always leaves the footrest up whenever she gets out of her seat, because she knows I might want to jump up there and sleep for a little while."

Having been saved from Euthanasia by Pet Rescue, and then adopted by us from Pet Rescue, Callie's music is for all the pets still waiting there who wish for a home.

If you're considering a pet for your home, be it cat or dog, and if you just can't afford the price of the purebred breed of your choice, we heartily endorse the Pet Rescue folks.  You can usually find them at Petsmart Stores, so if there's one in your area, pay them a visit.

If you can afford a purebred pet, keep in mind that Pet Rescue does need donations to keep them going, whether it be in money, petfood, blankets, etc.  They are a no-kill shelter, so a pet at Pet Rescue stays there until adopted.   We've adopted from there 4 times and it breaks our hearts seeing animals who just ask for a home and some love waiting for the right Mom and Dad to come in.
"Thank you for visiting my page.  Now, please visit your local Pet Rescue or Pet Shelter and you can find lots of pretty pets like me who would like to give you as much love as they can..."
CALLIE
On the left is Callie the day we adopted her from Pet Rescue in 1997.  On the right is Callie in 1998. She's beautiful!!  Hard to believe this is the same cat, isn't it?

1/3/2009:  Callie left us to go to the Rainbow Bridge in 2008.  Her kidneys began to fail and it was her time.  The legacy she left, however, is worth reading about.  She was, and will always be, a special girl!
