"Hello!  My name is CODY, and I'm the handsome fella you see there on the left.  I'm a Maine Coon Male, I weigh 20 pounds, I turned 21 years old in September, 2002, and yes, its documented!!  Mom and Dad asked me to be the narrator of my page, obviously because of my good looks, my charm, my age and experience!  And because no one else wanted the job....."
Here's a picture of me laying on our patio when we lived in
Phoenix, Arizona.
Look, I'm waving to you!

"Dad says I'm a laid back kind of pussycat.  Hey, I was born before the Dead Sea was even sick and at my age, I deserve to be laid back.  And picked up, and carried, and pampered...."
DAD'S COMMENT;  Don't let Cody fool you.  When we moved to Indiana when he was 19, the first time we took him to the Vet, the Vet said "How old is this guy, 6 or 7?"  The poor man darn near fainted when we showed him Cody's records.    We can only hope....and yes, he IS pampered!  He's THE KING in this house!
On the right, I'm laying in front of our computer.  Whenever Dad or Mom turn it on, I like to jump up there and lay in front of them.  That way, I always get some good petting.

Dad says I purr so loud up here that he can never hear anything on his speakers!  I'm trying to tell him to shut it off and pay attention to me!!!
DAD'S COMMENT;  While Maine Coons do like to be near you most all of the time, they typically aren't long term lap-sitters.  They'll spend some time being held and lap-sitting, but because of their size and thick coats, when combined with human body heat they get warm quickly and then they leap off and go about their business and cool off.  Cody is the exception to the rule.

He would sit in a lap for hours, and purr and purr and purr...his contentment was incredible!
"Ok, enough about me.  This narrating is a tough job, and I'm tired and need a nap.  If those young Coon whippersnappers running around the house would quiet down, I could get some sleep.

All right...I heard that.  Who called me a curmudgeon?"

Cody's favorite song was "Walk Of Life" by Dire Straits.  Cody walked thru life and enjoyed it all.
We miss our beloved "Big Red!"  Cody had to be put down just short of his 23 birthday.  He lived a full, long life and we were blessed to have him.
